Our next meetup will take place on Tuesday, August 4th from 6:00p to 8:30p at the Bloomington Public Library (Community Rooms).

Please familiarize yourself with our venue's conduct policy.

Meetup Info

What is there to do at a meetup?

Things aren't terribly structured here; feel free to just drop in and chat, or bring a craft or board game! The mission of Twin City Transfems is to allow trans women and transfems in Bloomington-Normal the opportunity to meet and socialize with each other, so this space can be whatever you make of it.

Policies

As said earlier, we like to keep things unstructured, but we have a few policies in place to make sure that this group can be the best that it can be for our members:

Conduct Policy

In addition to our venue's conduct policy, we have the following conduct policy:

  1. Be respectful of the other attendees
  2. Be respectful of the venue

That's it!

Plus-One Policy

Attendees may, if so inclined, bring to Twin City Transfems meetups a plus-one who is not transfeminine. Attendees who are not transfeminine must be invited and accompanied by a transfeminine attendee, and are not welcome otherwise. Inclusive spaces for everybody in the LGBTQ+ umbrella are great, but this group is meant to be a refuge specifically for trans women and transfems to engage in community with each other.

Membership

Who can be a member?

If you were assigned male at birth, but have a female or feminine gender identity, you are welcome in this group!

I haven't medically transitioned, can I still be a member?

Of course! Medically transitioning is a crucial step for many trans people in their transition journey, but it has no bearing on your actual identity. If you haven't gotten to medically transition yet, or if it's just not a step in your transition journey, you are welcome here.

I'm questioning whether I'm trans or not, but I want to explore my identity more and determine if transitioning is right for me. Can I still take part in the group?

Absolutely. If you were assigned male at birth, and are questioning if that was the right call for you, you are welcome here. Twin City Transfems aims to be a safe place for those looking to figure themselves out in addition to those who already have.
